transfer backup to new computer

Thread needs solution

Hi...I am probably stupid but....Here is what I want to do....
I have backed up my entire harddrive on computer A and am having trouble with computer A and am thinking of restoring my backup to a new computer B.
1. Must I have Acronis on computer B or may I simply restore my backup to Computer B by simply using restore
Any help would be appreciated.

If you are referring to restoring an entire disk based backup:

You do not need Acronis installed on "Computer B", as you could use your Acronis bootable Rescue Media (CD/DVD/USB Flash drive) to boot the
system and restore from your backup.

BUT, if the hardware in "Computer B" is different (different CPU/ hard disk controller, chipset, etc.) from "Computer A", you would need to use the Universal Restore option that is part of the paid for Plus Pack, for your version of True Image. Restoring to new hardware will most likely not work properly with out Plus Pack.

As an option,

You could restore only the data files you need to "Computer B", which were backed up from "Computer A" (using the Rescue Media or after installing Acronis on the new system). You would also have to install any applications that you need that were on "Computer A" onto "Computer B"
