I have PC BACKUP & RECOVERY ACRONIS TRUE IMAGE 2014. i desire to move contents of a sata hard drive that has the Windows 8.1 operating system to an SSD drive so that the SSD drive will be the boot drive for the computer.

Should I remove all of the contents of the SSD drive first before making the transfer?

I am confused as the steps to be taken to accomplish this procedure to create the SSD drive as the book drive. There seems to be option as to either DISK & PARTITON BACKUP or FILE BACKUP. May I request info as to exact steps that I should take to achieve my goal?
