Transferring W7 Installation to a new PC using Sysprep

Thread needs solution

I see that there have been some topics regarding W7's inbuilt Sysprep for transferring a W7 installation to a new PC and variations. There is a really good tutorial here on http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/135077-windows-7-installation-tran…

I did this using method 1 but not successfully the first time. I had a Raid setup and did initially have trouble getting rid of a Marvell Raid Driver 1.2.0.7600 belonging to the previous motherboard which when uninstalled caused W7 not to load the 4 coloured flags. In the end I found that it was best to uninstall everything relevant to the previous motherboard and uninstall all Acronis software with Acronis's cleanup facility - In AppData>Local>Temp delete all - In Windows Media Player remove all library locations, prior to getting a good transfer. Windows installed default drivers and all I had to do was to install the new motherboard relevant drivers. Then Windows had to be reactivated but only when I was certain all was OK.

Of course it was essential to have had a good backup just in case. I don't know whether or not to suggest that this could be an alternative to Universal Restore etc.
