Trojan in automatic 2012 updater?

Thread needs solution

I would have contacted support about this but support apparently is only available for first 30 days. I have the full version, updated from a previous one. I was about to use Acronis True image, but upon innitiating a message popped up to say there was a new update available so I clicked on it. Went through the update process which was pretty longwinded, apparently updating various parts a few times. Finally I got a warning from my webroot security program saying it contained a trojan w32.trojan.gen in windows installer and it terminated the update. I tried to start Acronis True Image program briefly afterwards, and it may have partially installed as there was information about what the update comprised of. Please help anyone [especially staff] who know what is going on here. Screen capture attached.

Unless you got the file from someone else who infected it, the trojan warning is merely a false positive from your security software. I would turn the security off while installing/uninstalling/updating. Also, I'd notify the maker of your security software about the false positive. In the meantime, to run the program, you should be able somehow to go into your security software and to it that the various trueimage exe files are trusted or should be excused from scanning, etc.. . how you do this depends on the security software you are using.

In any event, I'd download the latest version form acronis.com and run it and select repair option-- but without the security software running.

Thank you Scott. I have had a reply from Webroot: 'Thank you for the feedback in regard to our new software. I have made the changes needed in our system so that you can now run the software. These should no longer be detected as infections. If it still gets detected I would like you to run a deep scan...' So seems they are confirming it as a false positive. Just about to do a deep scan, not expecting anything to get picked up, will let you know if it does.
