Trouble installing Acronis 2012 "Plus Pack"

Thread needs solution

For some reason, when I hit "About .." on my licensed version of ATH 2012 today, I got a message saying it wasn't installed correctly. So, OK, I just re-installed it. Now when I check the "About, I get the correct page and see the serial number. All is well.

Then I tried to re-install whats called "ATIH2012PP_6154_en-US". I get the screen which tells me that "First", I must install ATH 2012 .... which obviously is.

What to do?

thanks

Welcome Rob,
The 2012 Plus Pack requires that the standard version of ATIH 2012 be installed previously. You are not able to install the plus pack to use in conjunction with an earlier version of the product. If this is not the case here, please let us know.

If you are attempting to install along side 2012 standard, was the install performed after upgrade from a trial version?

Please post your replies and we will try to assist you with your issue.

I have the "Acronis True Image Home 2012 Family Pack" ... which was the one that told me it wasn't installed correctly ... even though I had it running for a few months. So I downloaded the family-pack again today ... and re-installed it. It installed correctly, so it says.

THEN, I downloaded the "Acronis True Image Home 2012 Plus Pack" again and "tried" to install it. That one, as I mentioned, fails.

The 2012 family version was over-installed over the 2011 version from last year .. also owned and paid for fwiw.

Greetings Rob,

It's great to see you among us here on our Forum. Thank you for posting your issue, we apologise for the inconvenience caused on your part. I'm happy to say that I will gladly help you in resolving your installation issue.

Just to confirm, you have had activation issues after installing Acronis True Image Home 2012; upon reinstalling it the issue is automatically resolved, but then when you attempt to install Acronis True Image Home 2012 Plus Pack, you are prompted to install Acronis True Image Home 2012 first, when in fact, the product is already installed and properly activated.

There may be several factors why you are experiencing this issue, one of which may easily bring a solution to your concerns. It is vital that both Acronis True Image Home 2012 and Acronis True Image 2012 Plus Pack match in their Build number. Your copy of Acronis True Image Home 2012 Plus Pack is aligned with the most recent Build version, that is, Build 6154. Please revisit the menu item About Acronis True Image Home to clarify that the Build number of Acronis True Image Home 2012 conforms with that of the Plus Pack edition Build number.

If it turns out your product needs to be updated to the latest Build, then you may download your copy from your Web Account, and simply install it. You may uninstall the older Build first and then attempt to install the newly downloaded Build in case any disruptions occur with an installation over the previous Build. Still, presuming that you did update your Acronis True Image Home 2012 product, you may only then reattempt to install the Plus Pack.

Generally speaking, sometimes uninstallation of programs fails to delete from one's system. In your case, therefore, if you do not manage to uninstall Acronis True Image Home 2012 properly; or that you did uninstall and followed the steps succeeding the uninstallation, yet Acronis True Image Home Plus Pack fails to install properly - then you may resort to using the Cleanup Utility that completely removes traces of the program that's intended for uninstallation. Please be aware that this utility may bring undesirable results and we do warn our Users prior to their using it. Please follow the instructions from the respective Knowledge Base article to properly rid your system of any traces of Acronis True Image Home 2012 before attempting to install the latest Build 6154.

Should the issue persist, then please contact me directly via a PM, and I will happily proceed with the appropriate steps.

Thank you for your patience.

fwiw, see two screenshots attached

also, I do not understand why the entire un-snipped reply keeps getting into the "Preview" since I edited it out.

Rob,

As Volkan mentions, your issue is likely related to the upgrade where the incorrect build is being reported as installed and therefore keeping you from installing the plus pack. We realize you have build 6154 installed, but a discrepancy appears to be telling the plus pach installer that an earlier build is installed. This is likely a something to do with a registry entry.

It is not neccessary to install an earlier build of the software prior to installing the latest build. So, it's recommended that you uninstall your prior versions and/or builds, use the clean up utility to completely remove ATIH, reboot and install v2012 6154 from the get go. It is important that you follow these instructions when using the clean up utility.

Though I followed the directions exactly; and though I checked myself at each point, after re-booting, the computer will not start; there is a startup-repair running on that computer, which is my main Home computer; the startup-repair has been listlessly running for 20 minutes now.

System restore failed; I ran it again and it worked (eventually && some selections later)

Oddly, the 6154 download from yesterday and the extras-pack, are listed in the Downloads but do not run. "not installed correctly" is the error report.

I see there is a new May-10th build 7119 however whenever I try to download, I get "We are very sorry but service is unavailable now. Please try again later. "

what's more, I am unable to run the previous version build 6154 ... the one which is installed ((remember I restored to a poit around 12 hours ago))

So I am shafted. I can't run it; I can't download it; I can't uninstall it without another major system/disk crash.

bit of a problem.

Rob,

Did you have a Secure Zone or Try and Decide activated on this PC before you uninstalled 2012?

Hi Colin. No, I didn't ... and I read the caveats before I tried the uninstall ...
Eventually, by trying the different M/S Computer-doesn't-boot suggestions on the "Crashedboot" screen, I got Windows-7 to boot

The Acronis programs were gone but the computer thought they were still there. The previous registry entries
were sill the in the four "Filters" registry entries. So I cleared the "values' of the four keys.

Then I downloaded the old version .. mainly because there was no way, for two hours, to download the My-10th version ... anyway, I ran the install successfully on the same version I was running.

Bad news was that all Backup Settings were gone. I was able to do a find-TIB's previous backups ...did a re-construct the "settings" ... did a couple actual backups.

FWIW, and it should be noted, the computer log showed what they called a major win-7 update at about a bit after midnight into the 10th, of May.

And, I just downloaded the version 6154 Plus-Pack for my just re-installed "Acronis True Image Home 2012 Family Pack (English) 1 license(s)"
and got the same error message I got when I first reported here, at the top of the page.

Just ran a big circle. Please see the screen-shot of the error message.

Weird, obviously there is a registry setting doing strange things. I can't recall if the Plus Pack allows the MSI installer to be extracted, but try right clicking on the install option and see if you get an extract option, if you do, try installing direct from the MSI file rather than from the Acronis wrapper.

The other thing to look for is the install log which is probably in your Windows temp folder (Windows button + 'r', type in %temp%), do not close the installer, Acronis or MSI, before finding the log file as sometimes the installers delete the file on exit.

Hello Colin:

No extraction entry that I could find: +right-click or +left-click on "install"

Looking thru the Temp logs, I didn't see one for the Plus-Pack but did see one from the re-re-re-install of build 6194.
Down a dozen or so lines from the bottom was one lie which made me look:

Property(S): ACTION = INSTALL
Property(S): ROOTDRIVE = E:\
Property(S): CostingComplete = 1
Property(S): OutOfDiskSpace = 0

That reference to Drive E:\.

yes, it exists, however as storage/backup only

then:
Property(S): SourcedirProduct = {77DDEEB4-CBF4-4B4C-8366-07xxxxxx............}
MSI (s) (88:5C) [13:47:20:677]: Note: 1: 1728
MSI (s) (88:5C) [13:47:20:677]: Note: 1: 2262 2: Error 3: -2147287038
MSI (s) (88:5C) [13:47:20:677]: Note: 1: 2262 2: Error 3: -2147287038
MSI (s) (88:5C) [13:47:20:677]: Product: Acronis True Image Home 2012 -- Configuration completed successfully.

again, that is referring to yesterdays recovery installation of build-6194

Oddly enough, this temp file is located in a folder which claims to still be in-use and thus can not be deleted. See attachment.
Note: I blanked out part of the folder-name in case somehow it's proprietary. I dunno on that part.

In attempting to delete that Temp-Folder, I was closing down Acronis' processes/services via Task-Manager and noted that Acronis Non-Stop Backup is active and running. I ave never started nor wanted Non-Stop-Backup. Maybe it's a service that starts anyway. But it's running.

After stopping all services, I was able to both rename and move that folder seen in the attachment.

The NSB service is auto loading( just waiting for you to create an NSB task), if you don't use NSB this can be disabled or set to manual.

The Error 3's may be related to whatever is causing your problem but you'll need to scroll back up through the log file to find the actual entry they relate to. Look to see if they appear anywhere near a 'context change' message.

I'll be installing my update today, so I might be able to come up with some further ideas.

Hello Colin:

OK, then how about the reference to the drive E:\ ?? Is ATIH think that everything goes to Drove E:\ ?? if that's the case, this may explain exactly why when I try to get the new version OR I try to install the Plus-Pack, that ATIH installer can not actually find the actual .exe located on the c:\ ???

hmmm ... where would I look in the registry for that one?
