Troubles with new version (TI Home 2015)

Thread needs solution

Hi all,

some days ago I had a very big troubles in the machine of my very good customer (Z77 chipset, MoBo AsRock Z77 Extreeme).
After installation of TI2015 and starting of backup I found in Microsoft Ivent Viewer (system) Disk NTFS errors. There was also written, that VSS (Volume shadow) files are corrupted and must be started CHKDSK to repair it. After a few test I found that is corrupted via TI2015, when it is running.

Because on my machine with similar hardware Z77 (Gigabyte Z77-D3H) I have TI2013 and it is running
like a charm, I asked Acronis for downgrade 2015 -> 2013.

I do not know, why it is so problematic for this company: simply change a licence of new version to older one. By received information it must be also signed by director of company - incredible :-) !!!

Today after 4 days I received requested keys (I had two licences and changed both). Now all is tested and confirmed. On mentioned machine with Z77 Intel chipset, where Acronis True Image Home 2015 made VSS files corruption, after installation of 2013 version Build #6514 all passed without any event in MS event log.

My recommendation to director of Acronis is simple (not to lose a customers):

Very quickly change licence policy:
=======================

Current licence key must be backward useable with older versions. This give good opportunity to both side:

a) ACRONIS developers can improve product or catch and solve the errors in high quality, because they have a more time

b) customers not risk nothing when he is buying new product (because he can always use in troubles older working version).

Have a nice day.

I am sending this idea as 64 years old experienced electronic engineer, who knows, that is absolutely not possible to make a program without errors, but all must be arranged on best way, when customers not lose a busines via risk with new shortly tested software.

Hi Petr,

Thank you for your suggestions and feedback. It is always great to hear opinion of experience engineer and our loyal customer!

First I’d like to comment on the tech side of the post. Acronis Software does not and cannot corrupt file system and VSS. The fact that you saw errors in event logs is connected with the fact that since 2015 version we are using Microsoft VSS technology for creating snapshots, 2013 version does not address to VSS and that’s why you don’t see the errors in the even logs. I still would recommend running check disk command to check/repair file system. So the issue did not go away, it just stopped showing up in the logs.

I see my team has processed the downgrade request within 2 days after receiving necessary information. I am sorry if it seemed long and inconvenient for you, but the verification of ownership of license and getting agreement that owner understands that version is not supported anymore is important part of the process.

Currently we don’t consider making serial numbers of current versions to be accepted by earlier ones. But I will pass your feedback to our Product Management Team.

Should you have any other feedback or suggestions, feel free to post them here or submit through our feedback form http://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/feedback.html

Thanks
Aliya

Thanks :-)
I sent You a PM ...

I would like to know more detailed information about it. Your answer sounds like "Don´t worry about it, there was not error, only false alarm ..."
Or not ? It cannot be written "Problem is connected with something" ... it is explain nothing. More information is needed.

Thanks.
