true image 10 home trial version, cannot make a rescue disk

Thread needs solution

I try to make my rescue disk (bootable recovery disk), but I receive the message: the drive is busy
(0x40010) tag: 0x8b7f8138ebd33ec1
I try to use dvd +R , dvd+rw, cd-r, but always the same message. OS = vista 64 bits
thanks

There are several things you can try:

  • Put the blank CD in the DVD drive's tray, but leave it open (don't push it in). Media Builder will pull in the tray when it's ready to burn.
  • Create an ISO file or download the ISO file from your Acronis account. Burn the ISO file to a CD using an ISO capable burning program.

I also cannot create a rescue disk with TI 2010, build 6053, which I just purchased. After depressing the "Proceed" button to burn a dsik with a non-ISO image, I get the Error Message: "(0x4001E) Needed Space = 6C) Tag = 0x8B7F8138EBD33EE8.
I also tried the Safe Mode and tried various trys with letting the program open the drawer and others.
After having several versions of True Image over the years, I am bewildered why Acronis can't get it right. I did acquire the ISO image a burned it with my own burning software. Note that I tied two different drives with the same results. I also have plenty of hard drive space.

Sorry but I am getting the same error message "needed space = 6c" as previous post by Henry S. I have a purchased/registered version of TI Home 2010.
Do you have a listing of error codes for this program? Only needed 100.2MB for rescue disk, so there is plenty of room left over on the CD, so don't know what needed space = 6c it is referring to?

FIXED IT..........Found the post by "Dmitry dated 2009-04-17" item #5 to uncheck "Enable CD/DVD recording" and that fixed my problem.

Hello all,

K. Johnson, I'm really glad that you've managed to fix the issue.

Henry Swiatkovsky, please download an ISO image from your account and burn it to a CD:

  • Scroll down to you registered products and click Bootable Media:

  • Click Download:

Acronis Bootable Media will be downloaded as an ISO file. Please burn it to a CD.

André Blanchette, I have sent you a Private Message with a download link to Acronis Bootable Media.

Please reply to this thread if there will be any additional questions, I'll be glad to help.

Thank you.

I Put the blank CD in the DVD drive's tray, but I leave it open (don't push it in). Media Builder will pull in the tray when it's ready to burn

I am getting the same error message quoted several times in this thread. I have a laptop that will not close the dvd rom on its own. I also tried to go to my account to download the suggested file. The option is not there. Please help me create a bootable media.

You could try manually pushing in the tray at the appropriate time (when you click the final button for Media Builder to create it).

Otherwise, try creating the ISO file with Media Builder and then burning that to a CD with an ISO capable burning program.

Rae,

What version of TI are you using?

Are you looking for the SAFE or ISO file?

Thanks for both the replies. I will answer them both in this post. I am using TI home 2010 registered version. I have tried both pushing in the tray before hitting proceed and after. Neither has worked so far. I am not sure how to create the ISO file alone. Is that the last step before the cd making process?

thanks in advance for getting back to me

With an ISO file you have to 'burn' it to CD using either a utility for burning ISO's to CD, or, if you are using Vista or W7 there is one built in.

If you have CD burning software such as Nero for example, you select disk image, and it will do the rest. For Windows just clicking on the ISO file should bring up the Windows disk image burner (see snipshot). If you have something like Nero or gBurner (my favourite) installed then these will probably open up when you double click on the ISO image.

OK, just realised we might be at cross purposes here.

Mudcrab is referring to the ability of the media builder to make an ISO file rather than 'copying' the files to CD - I was thinking about the ISO version available from your account - either way getting th eISO onto a CD is the same as I've written above.

It is the 3rd choice in the Wizard when clicking the next button. As my snipshot is from a virtual machine I only have one option showing, you should see up to 3 options. Select ISO and follow the instructions. Once the ISO is made, you use the software above to convert it to CD format.

It has taken me a few days to get to this but here goes. I have successfully created the ISO file using the program and saved it on my desktop. The last time I looked I did not have the option to download one from the Acronis site. I have not looked today so far. I tried to burn the image to a dvd using both Ashampoo 6 and gburner trial version. Both programs do not recognize the blank dvd in the drive. They say there is no media in the drive. The drive works with other disks. I have not tried to burn anything else to a dvd. This is getting very frustrating. I hope to get this figured out soon with your help. Thanks again.

hmm, do you have a CD to try instead?

Using gBurner, you have no trouble attaching the ISO to the burning panel, it's just that gBurner doen't see you drive correct?

Stupid question, but you are tyring to record to a CD/DVD writer drive not a read only drive?

You're right Colin. If the DVD device is a read only for DVD, it will not burn a DVD but may burn a CD if the device is a CD writer. Like you say, try using a CD-R

For more info about burning an iso, check index items 2-F and 2-G inside my signature below.

OK, I finally gave up on the DVD and bought some blank CDs. (By the way, it is a CDRW drive with DVD capabilities. Now that you mention it I don't know if it can burn DVDs). Anyway, once I got the CD-R into the drive the creation capability within TI 2010 Home created the rescue CD. It is also bootable, as I have tried it. Thanks everyone for your help with this problem. I thought I was pretty good with this machine but I guess this proves you always have more you can learn. Thanks again!!!

I am using a paid version of Acronis 2012 true home image.

I got the same error message when trying to create the boot disk.

I fixed the problem by not closing the disk drive first. But here is my question:

This was first mentioned as a fault with the Acronis version 10. Why the Heck haven't they fixed this bug by now?

Acronis need to understand that are not selling software. They are selling peace of mind.

Smart home and small business computer users know that sooner of later their C drive will crash.

They buy Acronis and similar programs so that when this happens they can rescue their programs and data with the minimum of fuss and fear.

Acronis need to focus on making this process smooth, reliable and easy.
