True Image 11, error code 500 (0x101F4). Failed to read data from the disk

Thread needs solution

I had an issue with backing up to my SZ. I would normally do a sector-by-sector image, but this time it failed. This has never happened before. Can you advice me of what i can do? Also can the Secure Zone be on a secondary disk (internal)? And thirdly, if my primary disk totally failed to work if i had backed up to the secondary drive would i then be able to restore the image of c drive (windows) back to a new hard drive without any issues?

Zoe,

You don't need to turn on the option "sector-by-sector" for a normal image. Some users believe this is a better option, but it just adds useless information to the image. Note that in some cases, eg disk forensics, encrypted disks, it might be necessary to do that.

You can create the Acronis Secure Zone on a secondary internal or external disk and you can restore as well. I recommend not using the Acronis Secure Zone unless you have a good reason to (eg you want to hide your backups away from negligent or harmful users, or you have only one disk available for backup). Normally, it is better to just backup to a regular partition.
