True Image 11 Home. Query on an error????

Thread needs solution

I have True Image 11 Home and am so far very happy with it.

When I did my first backup of both my c: and i: (c: 80gb maxtor contains OS and some program files. i: 250gb western digital contains music, photos, movies etc and some program files.) I got an error during backup of the c: saying "Failed to read data from the disk failed to read from the sector 2,701,009 of hard disk 2. (the backup was a full image sector by sector backup onto my external 1tb drive.)

I continued the backup by selecting ignore and the backup finished and said it was completed successfully. I was worried about the error so I validated the back up, which completed successfully. My question is "Will this back up produce a full image of my current system even with this error?" Does completing the varifacation process mean my backup is going to work even though I recieved that error during the backup process?

You may want to run chkdsk /r on your drives to check for any bad sectors. However, sometimes TI will just have problems reading a particular sector when nothing else reports any errors.

The backup will not contain valid data for the sector that was ignored. If that sector was part of a file, the file will be corrupted.

If chkdsk finds any bad sectors, you may want to create a new backup image and see if you still get the error or if it completes normally.

I did a chkdsk last night and it repaired a bad sector, I then ran another back up of c: and it went through with no errors. To be safe I think tonight I will run chkdsk again tonight and then complete another backup image of both the drives.

Thanks for the reply. It confirmed my suspicion......better to be safe and just re-do it all, even though it is about 280gb (takes ages).....I'd be shattered if I lost something later on.
