True Image 2009 and Windows 7 works perfectly

Thread needs solution

In case anyone was wondering about TI 2009 with W7 I have recently upgraded TI v11 to 2009 (after having no success with 2010)
My computer is an i7 with 6GB ram running Windows 7 Ultimate.
I have thoroughly tested TI 2009, doing a full backup, and then restoring that backup....all works perfectly. I then cloned my system drive to another 2 drives, and tested them. Each clone booted up my W7 machine and retained all data and programs

So despite Acronis saying 2009 does not support W7, I have to say that on my computer it runs sweetly without any issues. I will be staying with 2009 now...at least until a stable build of 2010 comes out

Just one thing to bear in mind. TI 2009 doesn't use the new MS partition offset method it use the old 64 byte offset.

This won't be a problem for those who have installed W7 (or Vista) on top of a disk that has been preformatted by XP at some time, or if you've been dual booting Vista and XP.

You will know if you've the new MS partition offset, which will be a result of a complete clean install of W7, because you will see a 100MB partition along side your C: partition.

On a restore of your partition image, you will need to hunt for your W7 recovery DVD to sort out the BCD. If you restore a complete disk, then this shouldn't be a problem.

TI 2010 is 2048 offset savvy!

I bought a new I TB harddrive when I did a clean install of W7. And yes I have noticed the 100mb partition along side my C drive. I only ever do a restore of the complete disk, so glad to see this shouldn't be a problem.
And as I said earlier I thoroughly tested the retore operation, as well as booting from my cloned drives and all was well.

Thanks for interesting info bodgy
