True Image 2010 - Can't restore to "original location"

Thread needs solution

Hi there,

i just bought true image. A good product, but I encounter a few problems with recovery:

1) If I have my external mouse connected to the laptop, the recovery manager won't boot from usb-stick or CD. Removing the mouse solves this problem. It took me ages to figure this out. There is no message, just a black screen, and everything seems to hang,

2) I did a test-recovery of the harddisk, made a full backup to an external USB disk and started the recovery wizard. I select the image file, select "recover chosen files and folders" and go to the "location selection" tab. On this page, the "original location" option is greyed out. Why is this greyed out? I can't get it enabled whatever I do.

I use a dell inspiron 9300 notebook with Windows XP home

I'd appreciate any help.

Can the Rescue CD see your internal drive?

Have you tried using the USB Mouse off switch that you canhgave compiled into the config file for Linux? Instructions are at the back of the help file under troubleshooting.

Check the BIOS for a Legacy USB option. Try it enabled/disabled and see if it makes a difference.

Do you have TI installed in Windows? If so, is the Original Location option available from TI in Windows or is it grayed out. If the problem happens when running TI in Windows, is the option available when running TI from the CD?
