True Image 2011 will not complete backup

Thread needs solution

I am running Windows Vista 64 bit and when making a backup from Windows it starts out with a normal time remaining estimate, but then does not complete. On a recent attempt it was reading 35,588 days 14 hrs 25 min and counting. Using a bootable version of True Image works fine. The problem occurs when making the backup to a Western Digital Elite drive, which has a "Virtual CD" partition that includes a backup program of its own. However, in setting up the True Image backup the main partition is chosen. It may be significant that Windows Explorer shows the Virtual Drive as "CD Drive (L:) WD SmartWare", bur PartionWizard doies not show such a partition. If True Image is run from a bootable device, the backup completes normally, It also completes normally when run from Windows when using a different external hard drive, so it appears that the probem is caused by the "Virtual Drive". I would rather not remove the feature from the drive. Is there a good solution?

It now seems that the problem occurs during verification and in time it does indicate that the backup is valid. The time remaining seems to have no relationship to reality. Don

Don,

The validation timing problem has been noted in other threads. Do you by chance have a quad core CPU?

As far as your drive that reprots itself as a CD is concerned, try changing the properties so that it has fast access rather than fast disconnect,
