True Image 2012 Recovery disc does not detect external USB drives

Thread needs solution

I tried to restore a full backup of a TI 2012 using recovery disc, but my external WD My Book 1130 was not detected. So then I followed the suggestions and burned a WinPE disc successfully, but that too did not detect the external USB hard drive.

I also tried a WD passport hard drive, but it did not get detected either.

Any suggestions?

I would suspect an issue with your USB ports, as I use ATI rescue media with both WD My Book and WD Passport drives.

Don't connect via a hub, a port in a monitor, a USB extension cord, etc. Connect the external drive directly to a USB port on the rear of the computer case. See if that works better.

If you're using a USB 3.0 port, perhaps try a USB 2.0 port.

Thank you, the 2.0 port worked. I will continue to backup using 3.0 but if I ever have to restore I'll have to remember to use 2.0 (that's what Sharpie's are for :)

My USB 3.0 ports are recognized by the ATI rescue media, so perhaps your hardware isn't yet covered. It wouldn't hurt to send a message to Acronis Support with details of your USB 3.0 hardware, informing them of the lack of support in the ATI rescue media so they can include it in the next release.
