True Image 2014 absolutely definitely will not clone the system disk.

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I have acquired the oem 2014 version due to buying a crucial 250GB ssd. I have build 4515.

I have followed the instructions as per the video's taking me from originally doing it within Windows 7 to using a cd version from boot up.

I have created the new disk both within Windows and via T.I. It is there, it is visible. But not for love nor money will the program clone the primary disk. Originally I had it hanging off a USB connector, but I have finally got it fitted to the internal connectors.

The only difference I can see from the video to my system is mine is Sata instead of IDE.

Considering the negative posts regarding the 2015 version I am loath to try an upgrade.

Hello Pete,

I have used TIH 2014 for quite a while with good success.

I also installed a SSD and used 2014 to place the OS and data onto the SSD.

Here is what I did...

Using TIH 2014 BUILD 6688

Created a NEW backup "Image " of my OS "C" drive including data.
Created a DVD boot media from TIH 2014.
Shut down and "REMOVED" the original OS disk (that step is important).
Booted with the DVD and performed a restore using my "C drive OS image" to the new Sata SSD.
Removed the boot DVD and restarted the computer.
The SSD booted without any problems.
I have NEVER used the "Clone" feature and do not intend to.

I am sure other forum members will chime in with their personal methods..

Steve

Hello Steve,

Thank you so much for this. Luckily I had a spare HDD big enough to save the image too and was able to complete the copying process. Despite a warning coming up midway that the HDD had reached 68 degrees.... :(

I was unable to update the program to the later build as the link that states it IS for the later build links you to the 2015 upgrade.... :(

Regardless, it worked, and that is the main thing.

Thanks again.

Peter.
