True Image 2014 - Changing my backup drive
My 3T external drive is too full (I'm a photographer so have a LOT of images to back up). I bought a new 5T drive. I backup by writing a full BU every month and doing incrementals every day. I delete the old chain once the new chain is started.
I can't get ATI to 'start over'. Even though I give the new Backup a new name, and write it to a new folder, and have deleted every reference I can find to the old Backup, the program insists on creating an extension of the original backup scheme. Then, because all of the old files are on the old 3T hard drive, it is unable to validate my backup.
How do I get ATI to start fresh?

To use your new disk, start over with a completely new task which has a new task name and a new folder name.
You may also want to assign a specific drige letter (x or y or z) to the 5tb disk.
Due to the risk of data loss (see GH25), I would encourage you to do more frequent full backups; or have two similar tasks where the fulls are two weeks apart. Hopefully, you have other backups on other disks so not all your pics are stored on one disk. Many users with your profession use several different backup software to to make their multiple backups as their data is so critical.

Depending upon the type of backup scheme you wish to create, here is an example of each type. These can be set up for Disk image, or Partiton, or Files-folders backups. These example show how to set up automatic cleanup so the program will do the deletion after it reaches your set goal of how many chains to retain.
Editing an existing task is not recommended. Rarely does an edited task perform to user expectations. It is usually better to start with a new task using a new non-identical task name and point to a new storage sub-folder so each task has it own storage folder/sub-folder. Old task can be stopped or deleted from the task listings.

Great job, and thank you. The key was to tell the Validation process to ignore all the past backups. There were numerous ones, many sharing the same number. Very confusing, but at least I seem to have a valid backup.

Yes, when creating backup tasks, it is best for each task to have its own unique task name plus each task have its own folder or sub-folder so tib files from different tasks are not intermixed. There is no mention of this in the user manual but the separtion seems to make thing less confusing.
