True Image 2014 not detecting hard drive

Thread needs solution

Have been using Acronis True Image 2014 (Build 6673) for many years and never had any issues. Until now, I'm trying to backup an image for brand new HP EliteBook 850 G4.  First issue a had was a video error that would not let the rescue disk boot up, which i resolved by enabling legacy bios support.  The issue i have now is that Acronis is not detecting the Hard Disk drive from the laptop that I want to back up.  Can someone provide me with a download link if a newere build is available that resolves this issue.   Thank you.

Daniel, welcome to these user forums.

ATIH 2014 build 6673 was the final build for that version of the product, so there is no later build you could try.

I would suspect that your brand new HP EliteBook 850 G4 computer has new hardware such as NVMe M.2 SSD drive(s) that may also operate in RAID mode, which you would need either ATIH 2016 or 2017 to gain support for.

If you are having to boot the Acronis Rescue Media in BIOS Legacy mode, then that is another issue that could trip you up later if you needed to restore any backup image you make, as doing a restore in Legacy mode for a system which requires UEFI would result in an unbootable system.  You should try to boot in UEFI but with Secure Boot disabled to see if that would work, though again, I doubt it would see the newer disk drive in the computer.

The other option here would be to create the Windows PE version of the Rescue Media using the Windows 10 ADK but I am not sure whether ATIH 2014 would support doing this, and you may still need to inject additional device drivers too.

I would recommend downloading a 30-day trial copy of ATIH 2017 and giving that a try with the HP EliteBook 850 G4 but you would still probably need the WinPE Rescue Media if it has RAID mode set for the internal SSD drive, but you could then use the Advanced version of the MVP Tool - Custom ATI WinPE Builder to create new Rescue Media with the Intel RST drivers for RAID support.

See KB 2768: Trial version limitations of Acronis products which shows that Trial versions of the Rescue Media is restricted to doing Restore / Recovery only so cannot be used to make a backup, but would show whether the drive can be seen or not?
