True Image and Outlook (2010) PSTs

Thread needs solution

My Outlook data files were totally getting out of hand, so I created a separate partition for them and, (to save space) imaged them.

But, after mounting the image, I still couldn't open any of the files in Outlook -- it said I didn't have rights to do it. As I am an Admin, why would that be?

Is that just a wrong error message and in fact I cannot load the PSTs at all? If I can, then how?

You probably just need to give yourself permissions to use the file. Right-click on the file and select the Security tab. Then give your user full control (full read/write access) to the file.

MudCrab, no, I have complete control over the image, yet it won't "give". That would have been such a great way to access archived messages!

Dunno. I'll have to figger that out...never dealt with that before...

Well don't I feel dumb! That was it. I re-mounted, NOTING THE CHOICE FOR READ/WRITE ACCESS, and lo and behold, it worked!

I appreciate the help, MC.

MC, if I have an image set to read/write. does the integrity of the image remain? Or do I have to re-validate, or...?

Chuck

Chuck,

TI will just make a new Incremental with the written changes. The integrity of the image (the original image) isn't affected.

Paul, can that be done while Outlook is open -- daily backups without "shutting down"?

Chuck

Based on what I know about Outlook, I think it has to be shut down before making a backup. But I could be wrong.
