true image has not found any hard disk drive
Desktop with Win 7 home premium 64bit Acronis 2014
I have just upgraded from Acronis True Image Home 2011 to 2014.
I have created the rescue disk as I usually do with every new version.
Trying the disk to verify that it works produces an error:
True Image Has Not Found Any Hard Disk Drive
error code 0x000101F4+0x000A01FD
The same disk works perfectly in another desktop and my laptop which both run win7 32bit.
So the problem seems to be the 64bit operating system.
Anyone got any idea how to fix it?
thanks
mick

Ron51, how are you booting your ATIH 2016 Rescue Media - this needs to be booted in the same way as your Windows OS is booted, i.e. if Windows boots using UEFI, the Rescue Media needs to do the same.
Next, depending on the type of disk drives in your Dell XPS 13 laptop you may need to use the Windows PE version of the Rescue Media in order to gain the necessary device driver support for those drives.
With ATIH 2016 you need to have the latest build version 6581 but this may not have the necessary device drivers for very recent systems in the standard, Linux OS based, rescue media, hence the need for the WinPE media.

The xps is using a pcie nvme hard drive set in Raid mode. WinPE rescue media is the way to go do that you can add the IRST drivers to support the SATA RAID mode of the bios for the newer pcie nvme hard drives.
Alternatively, temporarily change the sata mode in the bios to AHCI and then backup or restore and switch back to Raid before booting the OS. This workaround will be fine if you don't have an actual dual drive raid, which you probably don't.

Steve, thank you for responding to my post. I've tried booting in both UEFI and Lagacy mode. The Windows OS boots in UEFI mode, and when I boot the ATI disk, the boot completes with the error message. When I close the error message tje ATI program works fine, except for the fact that is does not recognize the NVMe PCIe SSD storage. The last version I tried was ATI 2017 8029.
Thanks

Bobbo_3C0X1, thank you for answering my post. Yes, I believe you are 100% correct. It appears that the linux based ATI (as well as some other Linux distros Puppy64) does not have drivers for NVMe PCIe storage. I'll work on a Win PE disk. And then try your alternate idea.
Thank Ron

Ron,
Sounds good. Build it with the MVP winpe builder tool - it will add the IRST drivers for you automatically when you pick the option to add custom drivers - that should be all you need. I threw in my killer ethernet adapter drivers as well since Windows doesn't pick this up either and I figured others out there may also have similar killer ethernet devices.
