The drive letters when booted to the TI CD may be different than when booted to Windows. Are you sure the backup drive is assigned C:?
Where is the backup image saved (internal drive, USB drive, etc.)?
Are you using TI 10 or TI 2010?
For the booting problem...
What version of Windows is it?
Is the Windows partition Active?
Have you check that the BIOS is booting the correct drive? Sometimes the BIOS will switch to a different drive and that causes problems.

Ok guys been about 3 years since I used this software. I was misunderstanding the recovery process. I am in fact not tryingto recover..
I guess what I want to do is create an image of my working hdd and mount it on my corrupted one. Any good guides for true image home 10. I bought this version like 4 years ago. I updated to the latest version through my profile.
One other question. I also have a corrupted external hdd that will soon up and show up in my computer but I can't gain access to any of the files on it. Can acronis help me in any way in this department?

If you have a USB drive available, that's generally better than using multiple DVDs. Does it all fit on one DVD?
Once you have a backup, you have a backup. It's not clear to me exactly what the root problem is and if having the backup will even help with fixing the problem. If you Mount the image, you'll only be able to access the files and it has to be from a Windows system with TI installed. Are you just trying to retrieve files?

I am on dvd 11 with on operation 4/5. It's an 80gb drive that is pretty much full.
As to the root problem: A few years ago I replaced my 80gb HDD with a 120gb HDD. The 120gb HDD got a virus/malware whatever and eventually started having lots of problems. First it was blue screen of death. But now when it boots it just goes straight to a black screen and says there was a problem reading something press ctrl alt dlt but when I do that I end up at the same black screen telling to do the same ctrl alt dlt.
So I figure that if I creaete an image of my working 80gb HDD that using acronis I might be able to mount it on my non working 120gb HDD.
Hope that makes more sense. Let me know if it doesnt

So once I am done creating the dvd's what are my options for mounting them onto the drive?
Can I keep the clean 80gb HDD running the laptop and mount them to the dirty 120gb HDD via external HD enclosure?
Or must I put the dirty HDD into the laptop and mount that way?

OK so I just found this,
http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=168165
I am now done with the backup process unfortunately I did not follow a few of grovers steps
1) I backed up using the full windows version, not from the rescue CD
2) I didn't set options manually so I didn't archive split and I didn't choose to validate.
3) I didn't utilize user assigned driver names
Should I proceed or should I start the process over?

The 80GB drive is currently in the computer and booting properly? I assume so.
If the backup image is on a hard drive you'll be able to Mount it. As far as I know, you can't Mount images on DVDs. All the file splits need to be accessible at the same time.
Are you wanting to restore the image of the 80GB drive to the 120GB drive to get it working again? This should work, but will also delete anything on the 120GB drive. Do you have backups of any important files on that drive?
See Grover's guides for general help with restoring. He's also gathered a lot of useful information.

Yes 80bg currently in pc and working properly. Yes I want to restore the image of the 80gb onto the 120gb. All impt files have been backed up.
So I won't be able to use the dvd archives I just made? It has to be done using an external HDD?

No. You can use the DVDs to restore the backup to the 120GB drive. Restoring and Mounting are two different things. To Mount an image, it needs to be on a hard drive and it has to be done while running TI in Windows. You can Restore an image from a hard drive, DVDs, etc. and it can be done from TI in Windows or when booted to the TI CD (as you would need to do in this case). The confusion here is getting Restore and Mount mixed up.
However, please be aware than restoring from DVDs can be more trouble than it's worth, especially when more than two or three are involved. It would probably be quicker to create a new backup to a USB 2 drive (or copy the image files from the DVDs) and restore that.
