True Image Home 2010 - Hard Disk Not Support Issue

Thread needs solution

I'm trying to restore a saved image to my hard drive, after booting with the rescue media (or even the recovery manager) Acronis keep telling me that it cannot find any hard drive. How do i get it fixed ? Yea, sounds familiar, i know, but after spending hours searching, i still fail to solve this.

My SATA drive is working perfectly, so as my recovery disk, if i change the restoration to an IDE hard drive, it can detect and restore properly.

My system spec : SATA drive, Windows 7 64 bit, Acronis True Image Home 2010 registered license build 7160 (Worse if use this build to create startup disk as system will auto reboot without showing me any message)

One of the solution suggested that i should boot up using WinPE as Acronis might not have driver for the SATA disk (http://kb.acronis.com/content/23882#). However, paying again for another plug in called "Plus Pack for Acronis True Image Home" is not an option for me as i felt it is the developer responsibility to ensure drives are supported, be it in software patch but definitely not another paid product.

Is there any other solution for it ? The main reason i buy this software is to save my time reformatting and resetup, but judging from the time i've wasted to find solution, i probably have already done a fresh setup of my OS (and all the tweaking + patches).

Hello Harry,
I have exactly the same problem, but Acronis don't care about old level, even it is the developers responsibility....
Refer to my post "31379: True Image 2010 Restore from SATA disk" dated 25/04/2012....

Hello Harry and Jean,

Thank you for your posts.

Harry, I am very sorry that you have experienced this issue, however, Acronis True Image 2010 has not been developed for some time and the latest version of our software is Acronis True Image 2012 Home. I would like to offer you a workaround though, since backups created with Acronis True Image 2010 Home can be recovered using Acronis True Image 2012 Home. I will send you a private message with a download link for the trial version which can be used to restore your backup.

Jean, I will reply to your query in the thread you mentioned so that we can keep the discussion relevant to the issue.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

Hello Anton

If I have difficulties too in restoring my backup (current problem: Acronis 2010 doesn't find "C"), do you think that it can be solved by using Acronis True Image 2012 Home? I know you don't give support for my old software version, but I'd like to ask if this could be the solution. The PC guy who has helped me and is on vacation at the moment assumes that my Dell PC needs a special driver and unfortunalety I have no bootable CD.
If so, I'd like to download the test version to try it and then to buy it if it works properly.
Many thanks in advance for your support.
