True Image Home 2010 stalls at "initializing"

Thread needs solution

Trial version of True Image Home 2010 installed successfully on my PC (Windows Vista Home Premium operating system). When I open the program, an "Operation Progress" window opens. The current operation, "Initializing", never progresses further.

A similar problem was dealt with constructively on this Forum for the 2009 version. Users were advised to clean the associated Log file. However, I have newly installed the program, so there is no Log file!

How to get the trial version program to function properly?

Hello Jarek,

Thank you for using Acronis Products

Make sure that you are using the latest build of the program http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/support/updates/

Disable the Distributed Link Tracking Client service:

1. Click on the START button and type "services".

2. Click on "services" from the menu.

3. Click "Continue" when the UAC prompt appears .

4. In the list of services shown, find "Distributed Link Tracking Client" and double-click on it.

5. Click the "STOP" button to stop the service.

6. From the drop-down list choose "Disabled".

7. Click "OK" and close the list of Services.

Check disks for errors:

- Go to the Command Prompt (Start -> Run -> cmd)

- Enter the command: "chkdsk DISK: /r" (where DISK is the partition letter you need to check) for every partition that is visible in My Computer. Please note, that checking the C: drive may require you to reboot the machine.

In some cases Acronis drivers may interfere with drivers of other software installed on your computer. E.g. Antivirus programs can seriously influence Acronis software from proper functionality. To overcome this issue you should download and install the latest builds of Antivirus software or temporarily disable it.

I had a similar frozen window on initializing Acronis TI 2010 both on Windows 7 and Windows XP (dual boot). Furthermore on trying to uninstall either a program, having to do with secure zone removal, never completed and used half the CPU. So I couldn't uninstall and reinstall.
I had caused the problem. I removed the Acronis Secure Zone from my second physical hard drive outside the Acronis program.
The solution was to backup all the data on the second HDD and then reformat it. Acronis then worked again on both OS's.
