True Image Home RAID Options?
I have a copy of True Image Home 11 and was thinking about upgrading. My OS (WinXP) is installed on a RAID 0 set, with two 1 TB drives. Because it is RAID 0, the risk of failure is always present. As such, I need to be able to use the software from boot, the Rescue Media, I suppose it's called.
Given the problems I had with TI Home 11 with RAID (i.e. it wouldn't work at all with RAID from the Rescue CD) I want to make sure that a boot CD will recognize my RAID set and be able to restore from a USB drive.
I am given the option of buying the "Plus Pack" which apparently has the ability to recognize and work with "dynamic volumes". Does this include RAID? If so, how can I be sure it'll work before I buy it? I don't believe there is a downloadable demo for IT Home 2011 **and** the Plus Pack, is there?
Or should I simply get the Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Workstation? The only thing I use Acronis for is to image from the Recovery CD (I have a Windows Home Server to handle daily backups). It's only $14 more...
Thanks,
Matt

The trial version of TI will let you create the Linux-based rescue media. It's limited to doing restores, but you can certainly see if it can see the RAID setup correctly. The Linux kernel and drivers of TI 2011 are much newer that what TI 11 uses. It may include all the drivers to work correctly on your computer. As far as I know, there isn't a trial version of the Plus Pack.
Purchasing the Plus Pack will give you the ability to create a WinPE-based rescue CD. This uses standard Windows drivers and should work with any controller Windows supports.

Well, I installed the trial version on Windows 7 Pro 64-bit, and it wouldn't even recognize the RAID there! Obviously, from the Rescue Media (boot CD) it would not recognize the RAID set either.
What do I do to get it to work?
Since this thread is so old I started a new one.

Matthew,
For my own information... can you please tell us what chipset/Raid Controller you are using ATI 2013 with, or is this software RAID?
Thanks

Asus P8Z68-V Pro motherboard. True Image 11 wouldn't recognize the RAID
Asus P4C800-E Deluxe: I was trying to image the OS drive to a separate RAID 0 set of drives, if I recall correctly. I did try the Bart PE plugin with ATI 11 but there was something, somewhere, that I must have failed to install. Thinking back, I must have left out the drivers for the RAID.
I've never used an outboard RAID or software RAID. They've always been hardware RAID built into the motherboard.
I didn't mean to necro-bump the thread. I went back to edit it and realized that I should probably start a new thread.
