True Image Home upgrade went bad

Thread needs solution

I had True Image Home 2010 build 5XXX (don't remember exactly). During every backup, I got a popup "Cannot open backup archive on the specified device: Either there is no archive on it or the archive is corrupted".

So I downloaded the latest 2010 version, 2010 build 7160. I tried installing it. It didn't tell me to uninstall the old version, so I didn't. The install succeeded, it told me to reboot, so I rebooted immediately.

But after that, True Image Home won't run. TrueImageMonitor.exe won't run either. Both generate an exception. And now if I try to uninstall True Image Home, I get "Fatal error during installation."

I'm stuck with an app that won't run and won't uninstall. Considering that it always gave me errors when it "worked", I'm wondering what I paid for.

Welcome Bryan,
It seems an existing issue has been componded by attempting to update an application that was wasn't working properly in the first place.

I would recommend a fresh install. Start by downloading the Acronis Clean Up Utility.

Ensure you also have the most recent build of 2010 for reinstallation. Normally you would begin an uninstall using add/remove programs or Programs and features, but if this is failing the clean up utility should be used. Please read the entire KB article and follow all of the instructions before restarting your machine.

After restarting, you should run the newest installer for the current build.

Something to keep in mind... Anti-virus software can conflict with some software installations.

Acronis True Image Home 2012 stops working after a short time and a windows message advises that the program has stopped, I have uninstalled using the clean up tool and re-installed using the latest version from the acronis website however the same fault is still occuring.

Keith,
Welcome to the forums. I suggest you start a new thread. You are using a different version and probably have a different environment.
