True Image Home v11 with Windows 7

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I'm running Acronis® True Image Home® version 11.0 (build 8,027) on a Vista machine. I'd like to upgrade to Windows 7 and cannot see anywhere on the Acronis website or Forums whether this version of TIH will run with Windows 7.

The MS Upgrade Advisor suggests that there might be problems - can anyone advise definitively please?

Thanks for your help, Graham

The answer to your question is, yes and no!

Personally as v11 is 2 versions old, I would plump for a 2010 upgrade.

Having said that, TI 11 should work, but image mounting probably won't, and the W7 UAC might get in the way, there is also the possibility Microsoft have added TI 11 to their internal blacklist database in which case you won't get past the install screen.

The Rescue CD should work, but be aware, a restore using a v11 CD may cause booting problems, for which you will need access to your W7 DVD to repair the BCD database.

I currently run TI 11 in Vista.
I will add Win 7, but will not install TI 11 in Win 7.
Instead, I will boot to Vista and run TI 11 from Vista.

Any problems doing this?

I'll get a native Win 7 backup when I an convinced there is such a critter that works, and provides the functionality I desire.

And, to get TI 2010, I need to see Acronis being more responsive in these forums.

TI 11 works fine in Win 7.

I run Win 7 64-bit. TI 11 Build 8101. I installed TrueImage after a fresh Win 7 install, so I think the previous comment about the "internal blacklist" is not correct.

I can schedule backups, mount backup images..have not found anything that doesnt work. I recently used it to clone my primary hard drive when I upgraded to an SSD.

Can you restore the Win 7 partition from a backup built with TI 11?
