True Image makes a HUGE temp file on my C drive that fills it during the backup process

Thread needs solution

I never seemed to have this prob before but now, when I back up my C drive, it makes a huge file (likely the size of the backup file) that fills the rest of the c drive. This ends up crashing the drive because my C drive is more than half full. Before that, it didn't crash it but it copied the temp file to the backup file! I went into the options and made it skip temp files (I was loathe to do that...maybe I'll need the temp files in a restore) and that at least make the backup file smaller... But this doesn't make sense. I can see why it might want to make a temp of the backup it is making.. but there just isn't room. Is there something I am missing?

thanks.

Hello Stephen,

Let me assist you with this situation.

Generally, the product places the data you're backing up in Temp folder first, and then this files are transferred to the image itself. The product should delete those files after the process completion.

This does not happen probably due to crash you experience. Could you please be more specific, what exactly happens when this crash occurs? Do you receive any error messages?

Please try the following suggestion: delete all files in \Documents and Settings\[Account Name]\Local Settings\Temp\ folder. Please note, that the folder may be hidden, you can open it by issuing Start -> Run -> "%temp%" command without a quotes. If some files cannot be deleted, please reboot your computer and repeat deleting.

After that, recreate the backup task and check whether the issue persists.

Additionally to this, you are welcome to ask me any other questions concerning Acronis, and I will assist you further.

Regards,
