True Image reacts very slowly during backup, CPU usage stays high after backup

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I'm using True Image 2009 Home with Vista Ultimate, both with last build/updates.

- Unfortunately, True Image reacts very slowly during running backup, i.e. when I click "cancel", mostly the software does not even react at all. Priority is set on "normal", backup runs with AES @ 128 Bit to an external USB HDD at about 20 MB/s = 72 GB/hour.
- Moreover, after backup has finished, CPU usage stays high at around 50-60% until I finish TrueImage completely. TrueImage.exe and lsass.exe (virus-free, checked) are responsible for that usage. Why does the program still use the CPU massively after backup has finished, what does it do?

Acronis Support does not know from this, they propose only general things. Does anybody here has the same problem and probably even know how to solve this?

Kind regards
dark_rider

Hello dark_rider,

Thank you for using [[http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/ | Acronis True Image Home 2009]]

Make sure that you are using the [[http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/support/updates/ | latest build]] of the program.

Then right-click it choose properties and set startup type to Disabled.

Check disks for errors:

- Go to the Command Prompt (Start -> Run -> cmd)
- Enter the command: "chkdsk DISK: /r" (where DISK is the partition letter you need to check) for every partition that is visible in My Computer. Please note, that checking the C: drive may require you to reboot the machine.

In some cases Acronis drivers may interfere with drivers of other software installed on your computer. E.g. Antivirus programs can seriously influence Acronis software from proper functionality. To overcome this issue you should download and install the latest builds of Antivirus software or temporarily disable it.

If nothing helps contact Acronis support and ask them provide you the latest SnapAPI drivers for Acronis True image program you have. The SnapAPI module is in charge of all I/O operations on the hard disk of Acronis software working in Windows.

Dear Dmitry,

thank you for your quick answer. Has it any severe consequences for my Windows when I deactivate "Distributed Link Tracking Client"? And is this the same as lsass.exe, which runs with high actiovity during the usage of TrueImage, or is it something different?

Hello dark_rider,

Thank you for using [[http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/ | Acronis Products]]

You can safely disable Distributed Link Tracking Client Service if your computer is not in the domain. The main purposes of this service is to maintain links between NTFS files within a computer or across computers in a network domain. You can read more about this service using
[[http://support.microsoft.com/kb/312403 | Microsoft KB article]]

lsass.exe" is the Local Security Authentication Server. It verifies the validity of user logons to your PC or server. Lsass generates the process responsible for authenticating users for the Winlogon service. This is performed by using authentication packages such as the default, Msgina.dll. If authentication is successful, Lsass generates the user's access token, which is used to launch the initial shell. Other processes that the user initiates then inherit this token. Hello Dmitry,

unfortunately, also when I deactivated the Distributed Link Tracking Client service, lsass.exe still causes high CPU usage (even higher than TrueImage.exe etc.) during backup.

Hello dark_rider,

Thank you for using Acronis Products

Have you checked the drives for errors? Also update SnapAPI drives, I have sent you the link via PM.

I'm sorry, but I won't go through your general Knowledge-Base-List from A to Z, which you seem to write to anybody with any problem. If you post, please write something really useful concerning to my special problem.
