True Image Universal Restore Not WORKING 0x0000007B

Thread needs solution

Well owner at one of my customers just got a new PC, has A LOT of programs and miscellaneous crap on his PC, so we wanted to use the Acronis True Image Universal Restore to basically just transfer everything to his new PC because figured it would be faster and easier than manually installing all the programs.

So anyways we are using the Acronis True Image 2009 through Kaseya Managed services software and installed the program on the PC, took a Backup image of it while Universal was activated, saved it to external hard drive, used the latest version .iso boot CD acronis sent me, and performed the universal restore and restart the PC and keep getting 0x0000007B blue screen error when PC starts up. I have ran recovery console and tried chkdsk, fixboot then tried to just restore the main partition and not the MBR record.

So I am not sure if Im doing something wrong but I cant seem to figure this out and getting really pissed off because not only is it the owner of one of my customers PC but I also own licenses for 210 workstations and 40 servers. And have been using the benefit of being able to boot that image onto another PC or server with dissimilar hardware as a sales point to sell the product but is not looking so promising now since I coulda just used the old traditional way of installing and moving everything over and woulda been down 4 days ago. So I hope I am just doing something wrong so any help will be appreciated maybe step by step instructions on what I'm trying to do.

Hello Tim,

No worries, I will help you to resolve this situation and get your restored system boot properly.

First thing I'd like to mention: Acronis True Image Home 2009 does not include Universal Restore at all and each dissimilar hardware recovery will fail with the BSOD 0x0000007B code.

Regarding the BSOD itself: 0x0000007B error is an usual error, it's related to the lack of HAL level driver for your hard drive controller. When you restoring your system with Acronis Universal Restore - it resets a HAL level driver and applies appropriate driver for your new HDD controller (that's why it's important to point Universal Restore to the correct driver file in .inf format). If this driver is not selected or if you're not using Acronis Universal Restore at all - system fails to boot with 0x0000007B BSOD.

So most probably you're not specifying a correct driver or Universal Restore is not used.

In this case, could you please clarify the following:

-Which ISO file have you used to perform the recovery (its exact name)?

-How exactly have you operated with the Universal Restore, have you selected a driver for your hard drive controller?

We have the article which describes step-by-step instructions to restore the system with Acronis Universal Restore, but it refers to Acronis Backup&Recovery 10. If you're using different version, please just let me know its name so I can give you the appropriate instructions for such recovery.

Please also note that we have released Acronis True Image Home 2010 Plus Pack, which allows you to use Universal Restore too.

I'd like to make sure that all your queries regarding Acronis products are resolved.
Additionally to this, you are welcome to ask me any other questions concerning Acronis, and I will assist you further.

Thank you.

Hi Alexander,
I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction. I use Kaseya to monitor a lot of my clients, but would like a way to monitor Acronis via this service. Do you have any advise as to best do this?

Thank you and kind regards
Mark

p.s. You can reach me directly at msims@pegtec.com if you wish.

Hello Mark,

Let me assist you.

Unfortunately, it's impossible to monitor Acronis through Kaseya software. Of course, Kaseya's software was made by Acronis, but it's highly customized, different modules were used in it, etc.

Please reply to this thread if you have any additional questions.

Thank you.
