True Image WD Edition - installation does not recognize router-connected ext drive

Thread needs solution

I attached an external USB WD Elements drive to my router and enabled file sharing. It's mapped to my notebook PC and I can copy files to/from the drive. When I attempt to install True Image WD Edition, it just shows me a message that it requires a WD drive and the option to upgrade. How do I get the installation to recognize the mapped WD Elements drive? Or does it need to be attached directly to the notebook PC to install/work?

Chi Yu, welcome to these public User Forums.

See KB 2201: Support for OEM Versions of Acronis Products which applies to your OEM version of ATI from WD

OEM versions of ATI are restricted to working only when a drive from the maker is directly connected to the computer, so your drive connected to your router would not qualify.
