trueimage 2019 - acronis universal restore / rescue media builder - serious confusion / use-case

Thread needs solution

Hello,

i am confused of these two tools ... Acronis universal restore and Rescue media builder

I am still not clear once drive is fully backed up; how to do a restore on the exactly same HW; all manuals regarding Acronis universal restore talking about dissimilar hw... but my use case is similar hw (only new drive)

Also whats the point of Rescue media builder tool?

John, the standard rescue media is all that you need if looking to recover your backups to the same computer / hardware.  Note: a simple change of disk drive or memory does not affect this.

Acronis Universal Restore is intended for when you are trying to migrate the installed OS & apps etc from one computer to a different one, i.e. with a different motherboard, processor etc.  It was designed originally for older versions of Windows such as XP, Vista, 7 etc but has become less needed with Windows 10 or later where the OS is much better at handling hardware changes.
