Trueimage Home 9.0 using with WinXP, restore to Advanced Format Drive (AFD)

Thread needs solution

Good evening forum members

I wonder if anyone can advise me. I am not an expert and have read many posts....but am probably suffering overload so apologize if my questions seem too easy.

I am trying to understand if this will work.....

I run WinXP sp3, and Trueimage Home V9

My system drive is 1TB non-advanced format (512k sector, c and d partitions).
I have a recent image of it located on an adv format 2TB drive, which was aligned beforehand and the image validated on my WinXP machine.

My Aim (destination location):
I would like to restore the above image to a newly purchased 2TB WD adv format drive on which I can format and create a partition on a borrowed Win7 machine so it will be aligned (if I am right?)

Condensing the many posts (if I understood right) it seems that if I restore the whole image and pre-align the destination 2tb afd drive then this should work....

But am I missing something?... and if so is there a better/correct solution?

I am happy to purchase latest TI2013 but seems that I should not need it if my approach is right?

Hope to hear your views - many thanks in advance.

p.s.
Also have available another recent image on a WD 2TB green adv format drive - which was also aligned beforehand.

Thank you

If your Windows XP system only contains one partition, your method of disk preparation with Windows 7 will work okay.

I would suggest that you install the new drive into your computer and boot to a Windows 7 install disk, or Windows 7 System Recovery disk and use the command line program Diskpart to clean and create a partition on the new drive before booting to True Image to do the restore.
