TrueImage restore from rescue boot CD fails

Thread needs solution

I installed TI 2012 and created bootable media CD.

Ran TI 2012 and created backup image onto 5 DVDs, also bootable.

Put bootable media CD into pc and booted. TI 2012 loads and I select it. Then I get a splash screen for TI 2012 and then the screen goes blank. Not blue. No color. No cursor. No response.

So, I put the first DVD (bootable) into the drive and boot to it. TI 2012 shows up with the same result.

This is very scary. I am dead in the water.

Have you ever previously tested the bootable Rescue Media on your PC?

Not on that PC. I logged back in to add that the PC was running Windows XP Pro version 2000 SP 3.

Note that it boots just fine. TI 2012 starts but then crashes or freezes without nary a peep about what is wrong.

I tried a different tactic. This time I installed TI 2012 using an existing license on the target machine. Then I restored one of the data partitions. It correctly restored the contents. But, it failed to restore the drive letter. So, I did that manually.

Next, I started a restore of the C: partition and gave it permission to restart. It said it would take over two hours. During a lot of this time the screen was blanked, but the disk activity light was blinking. In a little less time it finished and restarted. However, the disk image was corrupted and the boot failed. It was now in a fatal loop of rebooting and failing. I had to turn off the power. Even SAFE MODE did not work. The OS partition was toast.

The source backup image was taken from a Panasonic CF-Y5. And, I am trying to restore the image to a Panasonic CF-Y7. It should have a similar chipset and a bit more disk space. So, I am at a loss as to why it did not work. The restore help instructions use the C: drive as an example. And, TI 2012 did not stop the restore process with any kind of error.

I was planning on upgrading to TI 2013. Should that work?

At the very least it will buy me some support time.

Wish me luck.
