Try and Decide

Thread needs solution

Why does Acronis continue to include an option for installation of Try and Decide when they know it will not work properly under Windows 11?  I've used Acronis backup product for close to, if not 10 years.  I've written numerous inquiries over the years about T&D to Acronis because there have always been issues with it and never once have they responded to any of them.  Now they accredit a feature in Microsoft's OS as to why it doesn't work properly.  It's not Microsoft's responsibility to make your product work within it.  I've paid money for every version of this software for years that I've used, and each version should still be usable, but Acronis blocked my access to use the older versions that I paid for by not validating the serial number anymore (versions before Cyber Home Protect) which is just plain wrong!  The reason I used this product was because of the T&D feature though I do admit, they're backup software is solid and works without fail (most of the time).

Have you looked at this Knowledge Base document? It appears to provide a work-around. But you either have Try&Decide or memory integrity.

Sorry but not strictly true!  You can still activate ATI 2017 thru' 2021 provided you have installed the latest / final build version that includes the security changes to match those implemented on Acronis servers.

For older versions, i.e. ATI 2016 and earlier, then you can still activate but have to use the Offline procedure to do so, i.e. you need to fully disconnect the computer from any network then generate an activation code which is then taken to a different computer to activate via the Acronis web link provided.  That produces another code which you use with the offline computer.

To transfer a license to a new computer see KB 59689: Acronis True Image: how to transfer license to a new computer and if transferring ATI 2016 or older versions, follow the process described in the section 'Instructions for Acronis True Image 2016 and older versions' for offline activation.
