Try and Decide - cannot turn on in TrueImage 2013
I have TI 2013 build #5551, which I believe is the most recent(?). The Try and Decide window indicates that T&D is off, and *all* options (to turn it on, to select a partition, etc.) are grayed out. My OS is Windows 7 (64-bit). What can be causing this, and how can I fix it? Thank you.

T&D needs to have the non-stop backup service on to work.
T&D doesn't work for dynamic and GPT disks.

My thanks to both of you.
Under "Services (Local)" I find three Acronis entries:
Acronis Nonstop Backup Service
Acronis Scheduler2 Service
Acronis Sync Agent Service
All have status = "started" and startup type = "automatic".
I'm not familiar with what a dynamic or GPT disk refers to. Would this refer to properties of my C drive? [That drive has three partitions (as shown by TI in the "configure disk backup process" window: SYSTEM (FAT 32), Recovery (NTFS), and OS(C:) (NTFS).] What should I check to find out whether a dynamic or GPT disk is the problem?
By the way, I find that I cannot use the Nonstop Backup feature because when I set my destination drive (a Western Digital WD MyBook Essential, 3 TB) a TI error message says "Cannot back up to this partition because Nonstop Backup does not support the file system on it." Is this at all relevant to the present problem? Or is the external drive irrelevant, if I want to use a part of my C drive to save the T&D information? (T&D never gives me a chance to specify that, since all choices are grayed out.)
Thanks - Ralph

Is this at all relevant to the present problem? Or is my external drive irrelevant, especially if I want to designate a part of my C drive to save the T&D information? (T&D never gives me a chance to specify which drive I want to use, since all choices are grayed out.)

To check whether your disk are MBR or GPT, right click on the computer icon on your desktop, choose manage, storage, disk management. In the console window that opens, choose view in the menu, top, list disks.
What file system do you have on the 3TB disk?

Pat, my 3 TB external drive is MBR. The C drive is GPT.
What does this imply for both (a) the operability of T&D, and (b) the operability of the Nonstop Backup feature?
Thanks -Ralph

You cannot use T&D to protect a GPT disk

Thanks, Pat. What about Nonstop Backup -- should that work with a GPT C-drive? I appreciate your help with these questions.

Yes, non stop backup should work. Remember to do a normal disk and partition full backup as a backup of the NSB backup. Never let this backup backup get too old for your to go back to, in the case where NSB fails to meet your expectation.
