Try and Decide - Did not Finish - System Hung and rebooted

Thread needs solution

Hi,

Try and Decide - Did not Finish - System Hung during commitment of changes. Computer does not boot - Acronis 2009 Windows XP
All the lastest service packs -

What are the next steps - I have system backup files from 8/28/10 -
System does boot from the bootable media that I made -

Q - Can I restore the system from the 8/28/10 file? or is there another procedure to to cancel the the failed T&D

I want to get back to before the try and decide was started and failed

Do I delete these file? also -

Thanks,
Dave

Hello Jimmy Mot,
Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.
After starting Try&Decide a file "x0000001.bin" is created in
"C:\LoaderData" folder.
Then we make some changes, stop Try&Decide, choose to discard changes
and reboot the
system. Then start Try&Decide, and "x0000002.bin" will be created in
"C:\LoaderData" folder, but "x0000001.bin" won't be deleted. Then "x0000003.bin" is created
etc. These files are responsible for Try&Decide settings and may take about
40 - 60 MB's on your HDD
So please open
C:\LoaderData folder
(it is hidden, do not forget to set your explorer to show hidden folders)
and delete files from there.
Thank you!

When you say the PC doesn't boot, exactly how far do you get into the booting process and what error messages if any appear?

If the worst comes to the worst, you will be able to recover your 28/10 image.

There is another option as you are using XP, which would be to use the XP install CD to make a repair recovery, downside here is that you will lose all updates and service packs that aren't on the XP CD.

Thanks -

I used the rescue disk to boot into Acronis - Needed to re - Activate recovery manager -
System then rebooted and performed a scandisk - (located corrupt sectors)

System is fine -

Thanks,
Dave
