try and decide problem

Thread needs solution

hello everyone,

i am a new user of TI 2009 build 9796

I have used Try and Decide for quite a few times this month and i have encountered a strange problem

my protected partition is C:

Each time i use Try and Decide i discard the changes. After i stop the session en reboot i notice that my diskspace on C: has reduced by a few hunderd Mb

this is strange because i thougt that Try and Decide made absolutely sure that nothing changed on the protected drive.

could it be that Try and Decide creates some kind of temp file on C: after the session stops ?

i think i have lost a few GB this way

otherwise try and decide works quite well

could someone help ?

Many thanks

Hello Jimmy Mot,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

After starting Try&Decide a file "x0000001.bin" is created in
"C:\LoaderData" folder.
Then we make some changes, stop Try&Decide, choose to discard changes
and reboot the
system. Then start Try&Decide, and "x0000002.bin" will be created in
"C:\LoaderData" folder, but "x0000001.bin" won't be deleted. Then "x0000003.bin" is created
etc. These files are responsible for Try&Decide settings and may take about
40 - 60 MB's on your HDD

So please open
C:\LoaderData folder
(it is hidden, do not forget to set your explorer to show hidden folders)
and delete files from there.

Thank you!

thank you Alexander,

i just deleted 989 Mb of ".bin" files from loaderdata

but i lost more space then that over de past few weeks

could it be that there is more to it then only that ?

is it possible that there is a conflict between acronis en some vista startup item in de startup folder

so that windows explorer shows a wrong harddisksize on C: for example shows 20 Gb while there is 25 Gb of real free space.

there are no virusses or spyware items on my PC en everything is running normal.

the site of my provider shows no downloadtraffic lately so its very hard to believe that there is a piece of spyware of virus at work downloading behind my back.

if i ever do anything risky i do it in "try and decide" mode.

could it be that just creating the acronis secure zone causes this ?

its about 8Gb and created in unallocated space

thanks for your help

When I start Try&Decide of my Home 2010 on Windows 7 it takes not only e few minutes to start, but usually 5 minutes.

When it is started the computer is extremely slow. Unpacking a 300 MB file takes more than 30 minutes.
Installing a program also takes about 10 minutes.

When I click the tasbar symbol in order to decide it takes about 5 minutes until the window where I can put in my decision shows up.

Hello all,

We're really sorry for the delay with the response.

I'll do my best to assist you with the issue, but first of all I need some additional information from you.

  1. Could you please let me know the build number of the software that can be found in Help -> About section?
  2. Please provide me with the exact sequence of actions (including the actions done while in Try Mode)
  3. Please create a Windows System Information file and attach it to your reply.

We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.

Thank you.

Ti 2012 Try&Decide takes a long time to start. In Windows XP Pro it started much faster than it does in Windows 7 Professional.
Why would that be?
Thanks,
Bill
