Trying To Recover Some Old True Image Files
Recovered one of my old HDDs which has TIB files. The images were created in 2009. I downloaded Acronis new version (trial) and it will not restore the files. Needless to say I no longer have the old version and there is no information in my account on that version. To download an old version of True Image it has to show up on my product registration page. Any hope to restore these files

Thank you. No the disk was not corrupt. However. when I removed the HDD from the computer I removed many programs and Acronis True Image was one of them. I know the program was registered but can't remember name and email address it was registered under (or even if registration was required that far back). I have changed e-Mail addresses and names many times over the years so can't remember most of them.
Clicking on any of the files gets file corrupt or in use by another program. Copy file works but will not paste in the recovery section. I have one of the files on a cd and recovery section shows the file but I get the corrupt or in use message. I have tried all the files and get same message on all of them. I put one file on the desktop and Acronis will back it up but recovery just puts it back as a tib file.
I don't know if it matters but I think the True Image I had was on a XP computer.
Thank You
I looked at the link you suggested and may be out of luck if the files were created by a XP version,

Jim, one further option you could try is to go to the Acronis Product Updates page then click on the 'Show more' link at the end of the Consumer Products top section, this will then show links for older versions of True Image going back to ATI 2010 (Acronis True Image Home 2011 ( Build #6942 ) ) that you could try installing in Trial mode to see if that will read your .tib files or not?
The last entry in that list is for Acronis True Image Home 2009 ( Build #9809 )
What I am not sure of is whether it will insist on a serial number being entered but can't harm to have a try?

Thanks. I tried that yesterday and before I can download an older version I need a serial number from the registration page. Like I stated earlier I just don't know e-Mail and name I registered it under. Off to try ATI 11 trial.

Jim, you should not need a serial number to just download any of the older versions if you do this from the Acronis Product Updates page as the links are direct to the installer .exe files as per those I posted above for the 2010 and 2009 versions.
Any request for a serial number should only come when installing but should also allow a trial install.

Thanks. I think it’s a lost cause. To use older versions requires older operating systems too. I forget exact words but I get a message that older version will not play on Windows 10 or 11. And that all I have. The old drive I have has no operating system on it. I either removed the OS or the drive was a slave.

Jim, out of interest how big are these very old .tib files?

Dear Jim Pipkin,
You can also try to open this file in the latest version of Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office as an existing backup, you can learn more here: Adding an existing backup to the list – Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office
