Trying to restore archive - Asks for location of 1st volume
Hello,
Recently, I had to backup an individual's laptop so that I could reload it and restore his data back for him. I was having problems with the OS so I decided to use the bootable CD and back up the laptop over the network to our Windows 2003 server. I started the backup, everything started running fine so I went home for the night.
I come in the next day to find the computer sitting at "Access Denied". I wanted to see the path to the file but when I clicked Retry, it just popped up "Operation Complete" instead. I was kinda being hurried so I figured everything was fine with the backup. I proceeded to reinstall Vista Home Premium, all the drivers and what software I had that I could reinstall for this person. Then the fun began....
I load up Acronis True Image Home 2010 on the laptop and browse to the network share holding the backup. I double click on it and it starts to load up in Windows explorer like it's just a folder holding everything but a window pops up asking to Locate volume numbered 1 in the series. I didn't set Acronis to split the archive (never used the setting) but the filename had a 2 appended to the end. I tried removing the 2 but it still asks for the first volume of the archive. The only thing I can see if the Recovery partition. The C and D drives I backed up are completely empty. The backup is 47GB which is correct for the amount of data they had and the compression I used (the default).
Is there any way I can fix this archive to allow me to see what it holds or am I pretty much SOL? I'm hoping there's a way to repair the archive to make it think it's only one file instead of two. I'm running a validation on it now as we speak and I'm hoping in the morning it'll fix this for me.
/me crosses his fingers.
