Trying to restore Windows 7 Pro 32 bit from True Image Home 2012 - PC won't boot after restore

Thread needs solution

I'm trying to restore a Windows 7 PC after replacing a failed hard drive. The new drive is identical to the old one. The restore process ends normally but the system won't boot. I've run the Windows 7 Repair from the installation disk with no luck. I'm booting into Acronis from a USB drive with the TI Home software loaded on it. I can see the partitions were restored and the files are all where they should be. This is a Dell Optiplex 360 and it goes into System Diagnostic mode after boot up. No error messages about Windows missing MBR or other. I've read many of the posts here but none help. I've also restored the machine a number of different ways to no avail. All help is appreciated.

What sort of backup was it? did you backup just C:, or was this a full disk mode Backup, selecting the checkbox for the entire disk (not just individual partitions)?

Did you select the checkbox for the entire disk (in disk mode) or did you select checkboxes for each partition? The first method definitely includes the MBR.

When you restored, did you select to restore the entire disk and the MBR?

One thing you could try would be to
(Assuming that the newly restore disk is still in place and attached to the same connector as the original disk).
1. Boot from the TI Rescue CD and select Recovery
2. When selecting what to recover, select only the Track0/mbr and select Next
3. On this screen, it should list all the disks attached.
a. Select the replaclement disk to receive the MBR
b. On the same screen in lower left corner, checkmark " Recover disk Signature".
4. Click Next and click Proceed to retore only the two options listed above.
5. Shutdown and disconnedt the source before rebooting .

In essence, you are restoring using the procedures outlined in link #3 below, item 2 --Disk option restore.

Were both the old and new hard disks still in the machine after restoration and during the first boot attempt?
