Trying to use image - restart - nothing happens

Thread needs solution

Hello there,

I made an Image/backup of Win8.1 and wanted to put it back on my Computer after I reinstalled Windows (using an USB-HDD). When I try to use the backup, Acronis wants me to restart the PC in order to continue. However, after the restart nothing at all happens.

My PC:
Surface Pro 3
Acronis True Image 2014

Boot from the ATI rescue CD. Are you trying to restore the image to your PC? You realize that you will over write the Windows Installation you just completed assuming you a have full disk backup?

Yes I do know that, I had to test something. I cannot boot from any CD because I do not have an external drivce.

I copied the back up to a different external hard drive to test it with this one. After the restart there was a message in the bootscreen which said somthing with "Acronis failed to load" (can't remember it properly). After that Windows asked me to type in the bitlocker key. After I did that I had to klick restart. But nothing happened and the Surface restarted normally. I tried to redo it but the same error massage occured followed by the message that I have to type in the bitlocker key. I tried it again but now the same thing happens that happend to my other external hard drive - nothing. The error massage doesn't come up anymore and the pc boots normally.

You can make a bootable Flash drive instead of a CD. You don't have a CD/DVD drive then?

No I don't - ist a Surface and I don't have an external drive (btw: see my previous edit). I'll try it with the bootable flash, thank you.

Bitlocker key? Is your hard drive protected by Bitlocker?
