UEFI - Will not see new Disk

Thread needs solution

TI 2013 build 6514.

I have a Dell XPS 12 running Windows 8 64bit and made an image of the drive to an external USB drive. I also created a bootable CD and USB Flash media. Then I installed a new larger Plextor 256GB MSATA drive.

If I leave the default BIOS the Acronis screen looks corrupt like below. If I disable the Secure Boot it also looks the same.

Now if I change the Boot List Option to Legacy it looks normal like below.

Problem is that it will not see my new disk. Am I missing something?

After booting into legacy mode (from the Rescue Media) with the new MSATA drive installed, open the "Add a new disk" tool. Check to see if the MSATA disk can be seen.

You can initialize the MSATA disk as MBR or GPT (depending on what type of partitioning scheme was used originally) with the "add a new disk" tool.

If you can get this far, you should be able to restore your backup disk image to the MSATA disk.

After restoring your image, be sure to set your BIOS options backup to their original settings before booting to the new drive.

The video corruption (in UEFI mode) is a result of the Linux based Rescue Media not selecting the correct value for your video graphics adapter,
