Unable to browse TIB file.

Thread needs solution

-
Previous setup, before upgrade procedure:

Windows 7, true image 2013, disk director 12.
Images saved to external usb drive.
Able to click on tib file to browse, pick out a folder or file to possibly copy.

Then uninstalled true image 2013, disk director 12, and ran cleanup utility.

Upgraded to Windows 10, installed true image 2015, and disk director 12.
Ran backup with 2015, saved image file to usb drive.
Everything seems to run beautifully!

EXCEPT the ability to click, open, and browse the tib file! Clicking the tib file results in a message “this page can't be displayed”. Also, the manual says to mount the tib file, right click the file and choose mount option. However, the right click options list does not contain a mount option!

Therefore, my question – have I missed a setup or settings option in either ati2015 or windows 10? Or am I simply miss reading or miss understanding something here?? Surely I should be able to either open and browse OR mount and browse the tib file.

Thanks for any enlightenment……
Robert

It looks like the installation of the driver that allows you to mount *.tib files in Windows was not updated to the version that supports Windows 10 or the installation was corrupted. Try doing a manual Windows update - for some reason (under Win 8.1 at any rate) it was classed as an optional update.

The windows 10 upgrade was done as a result of registering for the free upgrade from win 7 to win 10, then being notified later that the upgrade was ready to install. After doing a full backup of my system disk (win 7), I responded with the option to install, and took the defaults to any options along the way -- don't remember what if any options did come up!

Therefore, I am not sure what you mean by "manual install" except possibly to purchase a released copy of windows 10. I have seen that term used earlier in this forum. OR, did the automatic install leave the upgrade code somewhere on my system, and if so where do I find it??

Thanks...

I have uninstalled, reinstalled ati2015 but no change. Could not run cleanup utility -- message about wrong operating system. A manual update of windows 10 found "windows is up-to-date". (I misunderstood previous suggestion in response #1 to mean a scratch install of Win10!!)

I am trying to avoid that type of action, which would clear the disk, because this inability to either mount of browse the tib file would prevent retrieving key data. Doing a restore from a backup image (tib) is of course possible, but would still contain this issue.

I attempted to follow the procedure described by arachnaut in thread 96423, but the driver level remained did not change.

Is this not affection anyone else?? Am I totally "off in left field" on this??

Happy to hear any additional comments on this issue!

The clean-up utility has not been updated for Windows 10. You could try running it in Windows 7 compatibility mode, however it may be best to check with Acronis technical support before doing so as there may be differences between Windows 7/8.1 and Windows 10 which result in undesirable consequences.
