Unable to clone to a 3TB drive

Thread needs solution

I have Windows 7 x64 PC with OS in C: and Programs and Data in D:

D: is a 2TB drive and 80% full and I purchased a 3TB HDD to replace it.

I formatted the 3TB HDD as GPT partition and it shows up in Windows correctly as one 3TB partition.

When I go to clone the D drive to the new 3TB drive, Acronis TI shows it as 2 partitions 2TB and a 746GB

How do I get Acronis TI to clone to one 3TB partition?

This sounds like a BIOS limitation. What is the brand / model of the system / motherboard, and what BIOS rev is it running.

It sounds like you selected "Copy partitions without changes" as the Restoration method in the clone wizard. This converts the 3TB disk to MBR which has a 2TB partition size limit. This results in one 2TB partition with the remainder of the disk unallocated.

If you select "Copy the partitions and use a disk as non-system, GPT style" the 3TB disk will be converted to GPT and all space will be utilized.

If you have already completed the clone, you could use the MiniTool Partition Wizard Free Edition to convert the 3TB disk to GPT and resize the partition to utilize all space on disk.
