unable to create rescue media

Thread needs solution

OS is Windows 7 SP1, all updates. Acronis 2013 build 6514

Acronis is an adequate file backup utility, but I haven't been able to use it to create a valid image - or at least not an image from which I could restore. A few weeks ago I discovered that my HD image, created with Acronis, would not restore. That eventually resulted in wiping the HD clean, reinstalling programs. Fortunately I have backups of all critical media, made with Handybackup, and those were fine - so I didn't lose any data.

Today I decided to try Acronis again, starting with a rescue disk. I thought I could burn the rescue module of Acronis to a DVD-R disk, but apparently that's not possible. All I could get was the little Windows wheel (the one which replaced the hourglass) going round and round endlessly. But I could not create the rescue disk.

Can anyone point me to a solution to this? Since I paid for Acronis, it would be nice if it were useful, if I could make a HD image from which I could Restore if necessary - but without the ability to make a rescue disk, it's no advantage over Handybackup.

Try this link. Prefereable to use CDR rather than DVD if you have a choice.
