Unable to create volume snapshot (0x70021) - Volume is already locked

Thread needs solution

I've been running True Image Home 11 for well over a year, with not a single hiccup. I've even used it twice to restore with no problems. Suddenly, 2-3 weeks ago, when I tried to make an image, including C, D, E + F drives, it failed after imaging C, with the above error message. As an experiment, I tried making an image just of C and it worked fine. Then I tried to make just an image of D, but it immediately failed, with the same error message.

Reading the forums, I ran CHKDSK on all drives. No problems found. I removed TI Home and reinstalled it. Didn't make a difference. I down loaded and installed snapAPI (whatever that is). In frustration, I even ran sfc /scannow thinking it might be an operating system file error. Again, nothing wrong found.

Finally, I booted from the Acronis emergency disk and was able to successfully make an image of all 4 drives, although it took twice as long as normal.

I'm a real estate agent, not a Techie. I just need to make this work properly so I can back up once a week. Has anyone found a solution to this? Thank you for any suggestions or help you can offer. - Gerard

Hello Gerard,

Thank you for posting. I will do my best to help you with this issue.

Since Acronis True Image 11 Home is an outdated program which is no longer developed or updated, there is very little we can do from this perspective. However, we can try some known solutions and fixes.

But first, I would like to ask you additional questions to localize the issue:

1. Did you install any new anti-virus software or some software that works with hard drives?

2. Which version of SnapApi did you install?

3. Please send me these two reports, AcronisInfo and Acronis Report.

4. What is the build number of Acronis True Image 11 Home. You can check it by pressing the Help button from the main program menu and then About.

If you have additional questions, please let me know.

Thank you.
