Unable to do Incremental Backup to CD or DVD
I have searched here and in the manual and can find no restrictions on doing incrementals to CDs or DVDs. However, when I create a job the only option I can activate is a full backup.
I have done the job creation both from "scratch" and also by cloning a working job which writes to a Zip Drive. That job has Incremental scheme / Incremental defined but as soon as I change the device to the CD/DVD burner the mode changes to Custom scheme / Full and all items on the Backup scheme tab become "ghosted". Even the three links to information cocerning the selections are inactive.
This includes using R and RW versions of the media. I am running build 6131.
What am I missing, and where am I missing it?

Hello Alfred,
Thank you for your posts. I will definitely help you with this issue.
I am really sorry for not replying earlier, this problem is caused by a limitation of writing incremental backups to the CD/DVD media. You can also check the following article for additional information.
If you need additional help please let me know.
Thank you.

Thank you, Anton.
I have replacement Zip drives on the way. I have found warnings on the web that using a bad disk in a drive can destroy or reposition the heads. I apparently made the mistake of trying the disk that destroyed one Zip drive in the other one to see if it would work there, and destroying that drive too. Not good.
Once the drives are replaced I will be back in the mode I have used for my nightly incrementals ever since getting Acronis for backup many years ago . At least you helped me keep from thinking I was going nuts and I feel a lot better.
Thanks again.
(PM read, too.)

Ah, I was correct that this is a "lost" functionality. I reloaded a copy of ATIH 2009 and it will do proper incremental backups to CD or DVD media. I have not reloaded any intervening version so do not know when it went away.
Can anyone tell me why it is not possible now but was possible with 2009? If it is a mere oversight and not a system impossibility, I would sure like to see it reincorporated. Barring that, it should at least be specified in the documentation where incrementals are discussed.
I guess I could leave 2009 loaded on one computer but don't like doing that. Especially when I have three computers and a 3-license upgrade.
