Unable to open TIH2012 backup with Windows Explorer

Thread needs solution

I have been using True Image as my backup since 2009 with no issues. I recently upgraded to 2016 and it stalled out my Win7 Pro 64 Dell laptop. I therefore reinstalled TIH 2012 which I have been using successfully for several years.

I have made backups to last two evenings without any seeming problems, but when I double click on the *.tib file now nothing happens (it used to simply open the file in Windows explorer and I could grab any file I wanted.

I have tried associating Windows Explorer with the *.tib file extension, but that extension does not come up on the list of know file extensions in the "Associate a file type or protocol with a specific program".

I have checked the properties of the *.tib files. They are not hidden and show Windows Explorer as the "opens with" program.

Can anyone offer me a way to view my backups?

Thanks, John Hunt

PS I CAN view the backups and individual files using Acronis, but why should I have to do this. Is there a registry issue here?

If it were me, I would run the TI Cleanup utility (my signature link 4 below--2015 version) and to remove the install,'

and then do a fresh install of 2012-if that is what you want to use.

Note, if you installed 2016 overtop 2012, that could  have been your problem with 2016.

Using 2012 or 2016, you should be able to double click on any tib file and it open in Windows  Explorer.

Thanks. Right now TI 2012 is working fine, but when I find time I will use your link to uninstall it and then reinstall it to see if it registers the .tib extension with Windows so explorer will recognize it.
