Unable to recover OS from a backup
Acronis 2013 True Image on Windows 7 Pro on a new Dell 8700. I'm configuring a new computer and before making dangerous changes performed a full disc (not partition) backup. Well I made the mistake I was afraid I would make and had to restore the boot partition. No matter what I try I get a boot error that no OS is found. I have restored the C partition with and without making it active. I also tried restoring the boot block but still no luck. Any help is appreciated.
Update: I had created a Windows recovery and image backup when I got the computer. I ran the repair to correct startup problems and it reported the Boot Manager was corrupted. After the Boot Manager repair the computer started properly from the Acronis restore. So my question is what corrupted the Boot Manager and why did the Acronis restore not restore the system properly? Is a partition backup a better way to go? I rely heavily on Acronis for several computers and this was a scary experience.
