Unable to restore 477.tib files 750gb

Hi, I have been trying desperately for over a week to recover my backup.

On a 2 terebyte drive are 477 files with .tib extension. About 750gbs.

I set the backup to be incremental and restart once a month.

The computer has 4 cores and 16gb ram with two 2 terabyte hard drives and a 1 terabyte drive, empty except for the operating system.

The operating system is Windows 7 64bit on the 1 terabyte drive, so that the temp file has enough room for the files created during a restore.

If I right click on file 476.tib and choose 'restore', the program searches and finally says there is no backup. So I close the Acronis window and double click on file 476.tib.

The PC takes 15-20 hours and finally shows a long list of folders from 1 to 477. I double click on folder 476 and the PC runs for around 48 hours.
There is very little disc activity light but performance in task manager shows activity on all 4 cores and memory usage as 99%

After 2+ days there is no activity shown under performance although the little whirring activity circle is still running on a blank explorer window.

I have tried right click on the 476 folder and tried 'explore' with the same result.

Am I doing something wrong or how can I retrieve my backup?

I'm using Acronis True Image 12 plus pack although my account only shows Acronis TI 2011 and I don't see an Acronis 12 sub forum here.
