Unable to restore or mount Backup! Despite High CPU load, nothing happens! NEED HELP

Thread needs solution

True image 2014

Unable to restore or mount Backup. Despite High CPU load, nothing happens over hours! So I run ProcessMonitor and the only thing I see is thousands of entries for

TrueImage.exe accessing files in the temporary folder called ~DemonData.swapFile.dat~.

Sorry, but I paid 50 bucks to have my Computer backed up currently I not only cannot access my data, but I also lost 50 bucks!

What backup type are we talking about here? Partition/disk backup or file backup or non-stop backup? Please specify...

The DemonData.swapFile is created by the app in the environment variable .temp folder and possibly in the User/Local/AppData/Temp folder as well. They are created during backup processes by the app and are normally deleted once the backup task has completed and metadata for the backup has been saved. Your symptoms sound like something is preventing these files from being deleted or you have a backup task that is still running on your machine.

You can disable the trueimagehomeservice.exe from running in Task Manager to stop the creation process. Yes, doing so will also prevent the app from running however, this will allow you to use your machine and possibly correct the problem.

I would suggest once you stop this file creation process that you add all Acronis executable files to the exclusion/exception list of your anti-virus application, reboot and see if that helps. If not then I would suggest deletion of any tasks you have created in the TI app and recreate new ones. No guarantees here if either of these suggestions will work.

You can manually delete these offending files once the creation process is stopped if they are not deleted automatically. The app however may recreate some of these ideally on a temp basis after such deletion as the app scans your system and locates backup files that are present and it attempts to rewrite the metadata needed for those backup files.

This is a sticky problem that has occurred on some systems for many versions of the TI app. This is the first time I have seen reference to it in TI 2015 though.

EDIT:

Thought I would include a link covering TI processes and services for your convenience:
