Unable to utilize all disk space during recovery on larger replacement HD.
True image home 2010.
I have created a full disk back up to an external USB drive and created a bootable rescue media via USB. I have upgraded to a larger capacity HD on my laptop. I can boot from the rescue media and initiate the recovery, but when it completes it only utilizes the total disk space amount on the original drive. In other words, after the recovery I have the same amout of free disk space available, although the new HD is 4x larger.
Thanks

I am using True Image Version 11, trying to restore my hard drive on a 500 GB drive, larger than the original I archived. I drag the graphical partition to the right, but the whole thing moves, not just the border. So my archive is 147 GB and my C: drive after restoring is 147 GB, leaving 316 GB of unallocated space on the disk. The idea was to have a larger drive in my computer because the original one was nearing its capacity. How can I use the 316 GB of wasted space space with just True Image and not buying another program?

What does this mean and how do I do it?: 6.3.8 Changing the restored partition size and location You can resize and relocate a partition by dragging it or its borders with a mouse on the horizontal bar on the screen or by entering corresponding values into the appropriate fields. Using this feature, you can redistribute the disk space among partitions being restored. In this case, you will have to restore the partition to be reduced first.
This whole thing is not very clear but very confusing.

Basically, you should be able to place the mouse cursor over the right edge of the partition graphic (in the appropriate window) and drag it to resize it. Note that sometimes this doesn't work the first time and requires a second attempt to switch to "resize" mode (I've run into that a few times).
If you're using Windows 7, you can also use Disk Management to Extend the partition to use the adjacent unallocated space. This can be done while Windows is running and doesn't require a reboot (even for the Windows partition).
If you still have problems, please clarify if you're using TI 11 or TI 2011 and whether you're restoring from TI in Windows or using the TI CD.
